Oceanview Speedway squeezed an additional meeting in on Sunday 17th January
to give the locals to have an additional run. Having lost all the scheduled
events from the start of the season the locals took the chance to front up
and take the double points on offer.
Stockcars/Superstocks
13 stockcars and 3 superstocks made it through the gate for the evenings’
entertainment. The superstocks ran together for a couple of races before
running with the stockcars in the last two events. The superstocks were
having their first run for the season with 23V Scott Duncan and 66V Karl
Jurgens joined by 18P Rob Potts. Jurgens was back after a year off in his
car that now has a Toyota under the hood. The stockcars saw the return of
31V Dan Matthews to further boost the local numbers. The only visitor was
32W Troy Clifton, carrying on the famous surname out of Te Horo.
Dion Mooney made the most of the evening by winning 3 out of 4 events in
Gerry Linklaters’ 98V stockcar. It was only former Ministock pilot 89V Blair
Lockett who prevented a rout as he fended off Mooney in the 2nd race. Other
placings were shared amongst those present in relatively uneventful racing.
