Eastside Auto Recyclers Oceanview Speedway played host to the Totalspan Balls of Steel Sidecar test between Australia and New Zealand on the evening of Wednesday 13th January. With solo bikes, kiwilites and a charity stockcar race on the programme it had the feel of something "different" for the 3,000 plus fans that rocked up on a calm evening and they weren’t disappointed. Warmed up by a band, an Air Force helicopter display and the spectacle that is Mary Perkins Encounter FMX the event was a real crowd pleaser. Complete with grid girls for the sidecars it had all the pizzazz of an event not to be forgotten. And the racing itself had everything including the Australians losing their cool when things started to go pear shaped for them
