The evening started with a 3 x way run-off to find the 30th qualifier for the NZ Champs, following a tie on points the previous night.

And what a way to start ....it was like a Demo Derby on speed. when the winning car is so wrecked that it can take no further part in proceedings, you can imagine what the losers looked like!

A family emergency meant that I only got to see heat 1, but it was a good one and shaping up nicely.

Apparently it became a classic, and ended with another 3 x way run-off. 4 x laps to decide who wears #nz1, #nz2 and #nz3 for the next twelve months.
