Stratford - 17 November 2007
Superstock Series - Leg 2
Pictures and reporting by Mike Pollard

Following the opening round in Palmerston, the Superstock circus moved to Stratford for leg 2 of the Superstock Series, with drivers from four tracks hoping to take the spoils.

Heat 1
#77p Wayne Norris failed to leave the start line, which sensibly triggered the red lights, just as the pack was about to complete their opening lap. #77p Norris was pushed to the grass and failed to take any further part in the meeting. #34s Peter Mosely meanwhile, started to "circle" at the back with what looked like clutch problems, before being ordered to the middle, and also failed to take any further part in the meeting. on the restart, #5p Bruce Ward and #2nz Peter Rees left the rest for dead and opened a huge gap on the rest of the grid. Close at the finish, with #5p Ward taking the win from #2nz Rees with #45v Steve Guilford coming through the pack to take a well earned third place.

Heat 2
A fast and furious race with the field becoming strung out. Up front #71p Kim Lace looked very quick as he stretched out in front of #2nz Rees, who in turn put distance on #24p Russel Harrop.

Heat 3
It was all Palmerston at the top of the points, as #2nz Rees led by a point from #5p Ward with #71p Lace a further point back.
At the green it was #55b Tony True who led them away ahead of #2nz Rees and #5p Ward. #2nz rees, with #5p ward in close contention moved ahead as #55b true started to drop down the order. The battle for third being fought out between #24p Harrop and #71p Lace. #5p Ward although on the pace couldnt quite get within striking distance of #2nz Rees, and the battle for third ended on the last lap as #71p Lace took to the grass handing it to #24p Harrop who promptly spun out of contention, recovering for sixth.

1.#2nz 2.#5p 3.#55b 4.#45v 5.#7b Shane Mellsop 6.#24p

Overall
A win and two seconds being enough for #2nz Rees who took the 2nd leg by 2 points ahead of #5p Ward with #45v Guilford proving a revelation albeit some way back in third.
