I knew I recognized the guy from somewhere ..... i just couldn't place him.
It was only when he came toward me exclaiming "Hi I'm Randy!" that I remember having met him six years earlier at Kings Lynn.
Hello and welcome to Stratford Speedway for Leg 5 of the Saloon Car Speedweek Series. or if you're name is Randy Lewis then it's track number 1,135 in you're quest to remain the world's #1 ranked trackchaser.

Saloon Car Speedweek

#21 Steve Williams was on the back 9, and on a roll having won the feature on the previous 2 x nights.
Going into tonights meet his lead in the series however stands at just a single point ahead of #48m Phil Towgood, with #5m Brent McClymont just a handfull of points behind the leading pair.

Heat 1
Series leader #21h Steve Williams could only manage 9th from his rearward draw. but, #5m Brent McClymont fared little better in 8th. and so it was left to #48m Phil Towgood to head the series with a strong 3rd place behind the flying #63a Nige Mouat and #42w Alan Jacob.

Heat 2
#21h Steve Williams made no mistakes in this one and powered his way to an impressive win over #17m Tony Heuvell. #5m Brent McClymont kept his title aspirations on course with a strong 3rd ahead of #9p Mike Hermansen. #48m Phil Towgood's 5th place was enough to keep a 1pt lead at the top of points, as #51m Debbie Service rounded out the top 6.

Semi 1
#42w Alan Jacob and #48m Phil Towgood proved classy as they opened a gap on #17m Tony Heuvell. but perhaps surprisingly it was #42w Jacob who had a superb drive to keep out #48m Phil Towgood at the front.

1.#42w 2.#48m 3.#17m 4.#63a 5.#9p 6.#71m Johno McClymont

Semi 2
#21h Steve Williams drew level at the top of the points with another great drive ahead of challenger #5m Brent McClymont.

Feature
Points challenger #5m Brent McClymont loses ground on the leaders as he is the first and only driver to record a dnf. Up at the front #48m Phil Towgood puts in a great drive to get ahead of #42w Alan Jacob, but cant catch the flying #21h Steve Williams who makes it three nights on the trot and carries a 1pt advantage into the final two rounds.

Superstocks

Heat 1
#818s Chris Hill started were he left off on boxing day by stomping his authority on this one. only #46s Paul Jamieson and #35s Neville Nolly being anywhere near the pace.

1.#818s Chris Hill 2.#46s Paul Jamieson 3.#35s Neville Nolly 4.#95s Brian Booker 5.#34s Peter Moseley 6.#22s Brent Pascoe

Heat 2
#35s Neville nolly set off at speed from the front with #818s Chris Hill in hot pursuit. Somewhat surprisingly, #818s Hill had to give second best to #35s Nolly, as he simply failed to reel him in.

1.#35s 2.#818s 3.#22s 4.#7s Kyle Stove 5.#46s 6.#95s

Heat 3
"The decider" didn't materialise as #818s Hill failed to grid. the hits were going in all over the place, and the reds were required when #46s Paul Jamieson found himself in a heap of trouble. Despite the efforts of all those around him, it was left to #35s Nolly to barge his way to victory.
