ARENA ESSEX - SATURDAY 10 JULY 2004
ROLLING THUNDER SHOW

Reporting & pictures by Smiffyman (Dave Smith: Tel 07885 281327)

Sayell’s storm home and Burtenshaw’s hat trick.

Saturdays Rolling Thunder show proved to be a good night out for the Sayell family from Kings Lynn. The UK Modifieds proved once again they could entertain the crowd with some fast, furious and clean racing. In heat one Harry Sayell led from flag to flag to take a well deserved win, followed home by Pete Webb. Owen Brown took a fine win in tricky conditions in heat two.

The final was a swap around of places, as Owen Brown stormed through the pack to take a creditable win with David Sayell in second and Dad Harry taking third place. However the biggest smile of the evening going to Anne Sayell who shared the win with her husband, son and father making it a true family affair.

The Thunder car formula, as always attracts interesting vehicles and competitors and this meeting followed that trend. Chris Selleck debuted his ex John Engledow, smart looking Peugeot 306, and Richard Sharp brought out his long awaited Peugeot 106.
However proving to be a cut above the rest was Dick Burtenshaw, who once again took the laurels with a hat trick of wins. On current form He looks to be a good bet for championship and points honours.

Finally Dave Gosling in his Hot Hatch Fiesta and Bob Tiller in his Sprint car came home worthy winners in their respective final’s.
