The season started with a bang at Palmerston, with an excellent crowd, and all classes bar the Sprintcars attracting mammoth grids.

Feature
96p Stu Cooper looked to be getting to grips with the amazing tri-rail car with the former Nascar engine, and was the early leader ahead of 7b Shane Mellsop in a very quick "conventional" car. Cooper slowed slighly in traffic, allowing Mellsop to "t bone" him, ending both their chances for the win.
Flashing past in quick succession was 10p Rees, 7p Penn and 58p Bengston. A close race was on the cards until a 2 x laps down 43p Darryl Hammond took out Penn, to a huge cheer from the crowd. Hammond then managed to overtake Bengston and slowed him enough for Rees to take a comfortable victory.

"Best Brit" award went to 42p Jamie Baguley in the Stockcar class, who fnished with a 2nd and 7th in the heats, followed by a 8th place in the Feature. Not bad considering he was up against over 50 x other drivers

With over 180 x competitors taking to the track, the season already look set to be a classic!
