The nearest thing to Banger racing in New Zealand......Demolition Derby Teams racing.
There are precious few Derby Teams meetings over here, and sods law says that when you do get a couple of meetings, they happen on the same day.
So whilst Ferndene was running the "Unlimited Bangers", Palmerston was left with the 4 cylinder jobbies.
A few new teams this year, including the Whakarongo Scrappers, but it was left to the highly experienced Palmerston Firecats and the Takapau Terrors to fill the finalists berths.
A truly viscious final, saw the Firecats take no prisoners as they set about destroying the Terrors in clinical fashion.
In the 60 x car Demolition Derby, victory went to #20 Buster "Eliminator" Taylor.
