Ohakea – Sunday 17 April 2005
Sponsors/Crew Day

Reporting and pictures by Mike Pollard

Well I cant remember any other meeting starting at 10.30 am!

Good morning! and welcome to Longacre Outlaw Speedway at Ohakea.

My first ever visit to the little used "practice" track at Ohakea, and what a superb track it is!
About 500 metres long or thereabouts with a short 'Bullring" track in the middle for the bikes.
Facilities are erm, well, non-existant really. In fact the whole experience is similar to the field racing in the North of Holland, except that there is a dirt wall for a fence instead of a dyke! But rumours abound that the "dirt" wall is to be replaced with a proper hand-me-down fence from Palmerston North.

This is not an official meeting as such, but is more of an opportunity for drivers to say thankyou to their sponsors and crew, by giving them the car for the day! It is also an opportunity for drivers to try out other formulas or perhaps test drive that car that is up for sale.

Best of all, is that half way through the meeting, the job stops for a barbecue........ what a splendid idea! Although the meeting is primarily for the benefit of Palmerston North based drivers, it was interesting to see that cars representing Stratford, Napier and Wellington were also present.

special thanks go to Andrew McKeeman for the offer of a few laps in the #81P machine ... cheers!
