NORTHAMPTON INTERNATIONAL
RACEWAY -
THE JOHN HEYNES HEARTBREAKER
Sunday 20 February 2005
Pictures and reporting
by Dave Carter.
At 135 cars those 'in the know' reckoned that this was the biggest-ever Banger meeting at
Northampton. What a fitting tribute this was to John Heynes, a man whose love of
motorsport is well-known and who commanded the greatest respect of the Northampton Banger
fraternity.
The pictures show how some of the cars were signwritten in John's memory and the turnout
of several was little short of showroom condition.
Special mention - and thanks - must be made to John's wife Cate and family who turned out
in force on the day and there were some fine trophies, including perpetual trophies for
the winners of the two feature races.
The racing was top-drawer stuff in both the Unders and Overs and with a quick turnaround
the meeting was done and dusted by around 5pm, very welcome given the bitterly cold
weather!
A final thankyou to everyone who made this meeting special and one that will be become a
major landmark on the annual Banger calendar.
