Huddersfield - Saturday & Sunday 29 & 30 January 2005
2005 OVALSPORT SHOW

Report and pictures by Dave Carter

This was the third and final show of the close season held at the Meltham Mills Kart Centre near Huddersfield.  While its fair to say that the venue does not exactly enjoy direct motorway access it was plenty big enough and certainly generated a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Probably the best thing was the chance to meet up for a chat in a relaxed atmosphere and to spend a bit of hard-earned dosh on parts, equipment or merchandise and, most important of all, to get all the race-dates for the year ahead.  Hopefully the pictures capture the essence of the Show from early-on Saturday.

Here's a few 'awards' from my stroll round, although feel free disagree!

Best Car - Carlos Perez's new F1.
Smartest Car - Not easy but I'd say Val Brooks's Hot Ford.
Best stand - Grand Prix Midgets.  These guys adopt a very professional-looking approach to these events which is a credit to the formula.
Noisiest Person - I bet you expect me to put Nick Knowles!   Not on this occasion since Keith Barber and his Veteran Stock Car building team win this hands-down!
Most Laid-back Person - This has to go to Jack Barber who appeared at peace manning the Stock Car trailer while Keith and Rob worked their socks off on the new Old'un!
Best Nosh - The Pork Baps.
Best Slogan - Spedeworth's "A race meeting with spectators in mind, could it happen?"

All-in-all a good few hours spent and lets hope Startrax's wish that this should become an annual event comes to fruition.
