I remember visiting a couple of years back and reporting that it seemed a shame that two of very few, Derby Teams events should be held on the same night.
Well since then things have become worse. ........ as well as having to compete against Palmerston North, who were holding their 4 cylinder event this weekend, tonight also sees the staging of "Smashfest" in Auckland which has now probably become the largest "Banger" meeting in New Zealand.

4 x teams were in the pits to do battle, and at the end of the nights racing, it was New Plymouth's "Dads Army" team who held top honours.
Racing in the support classes was much improved on my last visit, with the car turnout double what it was, thanks to the efforts of Club resident John Mangingo and his team.
