BriSCA F1 STOCK CARS - GOLDEN JUBILEE ROUND #1
BriSCA F2 STOCK CARS - WORLD QUALIFIER

Pictures by Dave Carter

The biggest meeting of the year so far combining the first Golden Jubilee meeting with the return of the BriSCA F2s. Plenty of cars in both formulae and a very large crowd but no-one had remembered to tell the weather gods!

In short, the weather through much of the meeting was appalling yet despite this the racing was very entertaining throughout and the stadium staff are to be congratulated and getting through the programme so efficiently.

Other plus points about the meeting included a very good programme where the 'cost' of the loss of colour on the inside pages has been more than compensated by vastly improved editorial content and the general - if as yet incomplete - upgrade to the facilities. It was a little surprising that the Golden Jubilee theme did not figure more strongly at the meeting although the weather may be to blame for that. Perhaps there is a need to judge the Jubilee year in the round before coming to any conclusions.

On the racing front the two finals were won by John Lund and Bert Finnikin which can lead to only one conclusion - on the wet its experience that counts! It was good to see 'Team Smith' in action. All in all this was a very promising start to the F1 season and the F2s more than held their own on their long awaited return to Brandon.
