2L Hot Rods - V8 Stock Cars
Bovingdon - Sunday 22 August 2004

Keith Duke writes:

"I went to Bovvy yesterday for the English Championship for 2 Litre Hot Rods.

As far as the racing goes I will admit that I was a bit concerned that with
quite a big entry of cars (about 27 I think) the big S decided to just run
two reverse order heats to decide the line up for the Championship itself.

This was particularly ironic given that they split the Rookie Bangers
meaning there were in fact less cars in the first two Banger races than
there were in the Hot Rod heats!!!

Heat 1 passed off relativley quietly with the win going to Mark Paffey from
Longun (who had started on the front). Heat 2 was a different matter with
two red flags the second of which was for a muliple shunt near the startline
that finished off at least 5 cars for the afternoon. After a long delay to
remove the cars (Mark Peck's was really bad) the race was finally won by
Kim Weaver.

So for the final we had a front row of Paffey & Weaver followed by Longun &
Rob Dance. Paffey led from the off and that was the last chance anyone had
to win the race. Longun got past Weaver initially but did not have the
outright speed to hold him off the whole race. Rob Dance was fourth
thoughout but Paul Wright nearley got him at the line.

In the V8's Peter Scott took Heat one & the final with Heat 2 going to Mark
Williams. In the Lightning Rods Nick Farrer took heat 2 & the final with
heat one going to 390.

So a good afternoon with a bit too much of the wrong sort of damage but I
still really like the place and will be back again this year."
